Meet All India Radio’s new Director General

As reported last week, Fayyaz Sheheryar has taken over the charge of Director General, All India Radio – India’s national radio broadcaster.

According to a blog about public radio, he has conceived, designed and produced thousands of programmes for different regions of the country and won national as well as international acclaim.

One of his notable accomplishments was his stint as Station Director of Radio Kashmir in 1991 during a period of extreme unrest.

He also launched a local radio station in Poonchh, on India’s border with Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

Since 2010, he has been functioning as the Additional Director General and was posted at the AIR Headquarters.
