Mirchi listeners make their own election manifestos

India’s Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM is lending a voice to the thoughts and apprehensions of the youth of Mumbai as the world’s largest democracy votes in month-long general elections.

Starting this week, the station has launched “Mirchi-festo” campaign – an on-air initiative for young Indians to advise the new government by citing their primary issues and concerns.

RJs are engaging with the youth on the street as well as city luminaries, thought leaders and eminent movie & TV personalities.

They will compile these voices and opinions to create their own manifesto called ‘Mirchi-festo’. It will lay the foundation of a game plan for the new government.

Talking about the campaign, Ms. Preeti Nihalani, Mumbai Cluster Head, Radio Mirchi, said: “The youth are the decision-makers of today and acknowledging their matters and concerns is vital for the smooth functioning of the nation.”
