Bangkok’s newest station readies launch party

Bangkok’s newest radio station is gearing up for a formal launch party next month.

Although BEC-Tero’s newest brand Virgin Star FM 98 has been on air for a few months, its formal launch was usurped by Thailand’s recent army coup, which saw numerous TV and radio stations forced off the air temporarily.

Now that life is returning to normal under military rule, the station – which is owned by the same people behind Virgin Hitz and Eazy FM 105.5 – has launched its first on air promotion in a bid to raise its profile.

“I Love Virgin Star 98” will see listeners offered a chance to go and see ‘four different of stars in four countries’: Movie Stars in Hollywood, Sport Stars at a famous football stadium in England, Fashion Stars in Paris and K-Pop Stars via YG Pop Music label in South Korea.

To take part, fans have to take a picture of themselves with the phrase “I Love Virgin Star 98” on it, post in on their social media accounts and put #ILoveVirginStar98.

If their picture is selected by Virgin Star FM 98 judges, they will win free tickets for two to one of these four places mentioned.

Last date to post pictures is 27 June.

Virgin Star FM 98 is aimed at listeners who want less commercials and more music, says the company.

The station features a lineup of DJs including is Luckana “DJ Aon” Huangmaneeroonroj, together with singer, Chinon “DJ Off” Chantem, Nattapon “DJ Nat” Sirichainaruemit and Marut “DJ Man” Manakul.

The formal launch party will take place on on July 24.
