Winners attend NY Festivals awards gala

The New York Festivals®  honouring the World’s Best Radio Programs™announced its 2014  on Monday at their annual gala held at Manhattan Penthouse in New York City.

Among Asian entries, India led the tally with 15 winners.

Reliance Broadcast Network Limited’s 92.7 BIG FM was the biggest winner from the country with four Finalist Certificates and two Bronze awards including prizes for its Mumbai breakfast show with Siddarth and the thematics package for the station’s retro image.

HT Media’s Fever 104 FM won five awards, including one Bronze and four Finalist Certificates.

Radio Mirchi scored two winners, including one Bronze and one Finalist Certificate, while Radio Mango and Radio Mantra won a Bronze each.

New Zealand won ten awards with CBA taking home two Gold, two Silver and four Finalist Certificates while Radio New Zealand and Radio Sport and Newstalk ZB each won a Finalist Certificate.

Radio Television Hong Kong won six awards, including a Gold for the narration of ‘Live the Hong Kong Way – I Live in a Cube’. The public broadcaster also picked up a Silver, two Bronze and three Finalist Certificates.

There were three winners from South Korea, with Christian Broadcasting System (CBS) walking away with a Gold for its rights documentary and a Bronze and the Korean Broadcasting System (KBC) winning a Bronze.

Radio Taiwan International won a Silver and a Bronze, while Philippines had a winner in ABS-CBN Corp with a Finalist Certificate.

Elsewhere, The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) earned the title of Broadcaster of the Year and TBI Media UK earned Production Company of the Year.

Overall, the competition’s GrandJury® awarded 2 Grand Awards, 50 Gold trophies, 57 Silver, 56 Bronze, and 97 Finalist Certificates submitted from 32 countries.

“This year’s jury honored long form radio dealing with complex subject matter along with innovation, and degree of technical complexity,” commented Rose Anderson, Executive Director of NYF Radio Awards.
