Stamp marks station’s diamond anniversary

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has issued a commemorative stamp celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of DZRH – Philippines’ oldest and the only AM radio station.

The stamp features the diamond anniversary Logo of DZRH, designed by Johnson Escaner.

DZRH, originally known as KZRH, was a commercial radio station established in 1939, which was used by Japanese forces during World War II to announce the surrender of U.S. and Philippine soldiers.

In 1949, it became the first radio station in the country to simultaneously broadcast in AM and short wave frequencies and changed its name DZRH.

As it turns 75, DZRH is the only AM station in the Philippines simultaneously broadcasted via satellite and 18 relay stations.

About 104,000 copies of the stamps in $0.01 (Php25) denomination have been printed.

They will be available at the Post Shop of the Manila Central Office and post offices nationwide.

Postmaster General Josie M. Dela Cruz said: “We issued the DZRH commemorative stamps to recognise the significant roles and milestones of DZRH in the annals of Philippine history.”
