BIG FM hires National Entertainment Editor

India’s 92.7 BIG FM announced the appointment of veteran film journalist, critic, author and historian Bhawana Somaaya as its Entertainment Editor this week.

Somaaya has been associated with the station since 2009, when she first worked as a film expert, sharing Bollywood reviews and trivia.

She began her career as a reporter with Cinema Journal, an entertainment supplement of Free Press Journal in 1970s and soon became a renowned film critic.

Later, she joined Movie magazine and eventually moved to Screen, the film weekly of the Indian Express Group as Editor in Chief.

She has also written 12 books, the most recently ‘Talking Cinema’, which was released in October last year.

In her new role, she will be responsible for delivering newer perspectives, inputs and insights about Bollywood for BIG FM listeners.

Speaking about her appointment, Bhawana Somaaya said: “I’m grateful to have received this opportunity and I bring my sincerity to the work that this organization does. I’m elated to reinvent myself with a new medium and a new language.”
