MediaCorp’s Capital 95.8FM DJs joined in the annual Chong Yang Festival celebrations in Singapore on Saturday.

Chong Yang Festival or Double Ninth Festival is held on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month and is celebrated by Chinese from all around the world.

In Chinese language, the number 9  has the same pronunciation as the word ‘long’ and is believed to mean longevity and everlasting, so the festival is also known as ‘Senior Citizens’ Day’.

Capital 95.8 FM jocks took part in the celebrations across various locations which will also featured opera, acrobatic performance, magic tricks and traditional sweets.

DJs Pan Jiabiao, Gao Yixin, Lee Yisha were sent to Kreta Ayer Square, DJs Wang Dicong, Lin Lingzhi, Zeng Shenglian appeared at Bedok Central and DJs Bukoh Mary, Huang Shujun, Liang Peng headed to Jurong.

500 lunch sets including specially made Chong Yang cake were given out at these locations.

Listeners also had the chance to win a free massage and participate in family activities for which senior citizens above the age of 60 were given priority.
