MBC choral contest seventh season launches

Philippines’ Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) is once again looking for the country’s best local talent with this year’s National Choral Competition.

According to local media, the nationwide search is now in its seventh year and is a part of the network’s pre-Christmas activities.

It is also considered the biggest choral competition in the country.

The contest offers challenges to a range of participants, from children’s choirs, an open category for schools, churches, residential communities, companies, government agencies and special interest groups.

The children’s choir winner will receive $2295 (P100,000) while the open category champion will takes home $3442 (P150,000).

Live auditions will be conducted in Cauayan, Isabela on September 27, Iloilo on October 4 and at the Star Theater in Pasay on October 12.

The network is also offering a travel subsidy to with the costs of travelling to Manila for provincial ensembles.

The competition will be held from December 9 to 13 at the Aliw Theater.
