Symphony launches cafe concert series

Symphony 92.4FM’s new cafe concert series aims to bring short bursts of classical music to a new audience.

The MediaCorp station, will hold quick-fire performances at the Orchard Central branch of coffee joint – Ya Kun Kaya Toast – on the first and third Saturday of September and October at 3pm.

The duration of each performance will be 15 to 20 minutes.

They will feature prominent local classical musicians including famed violinists and pianists.

A special performance by Symphony’s Young Talents Project winners will also be a part of the initiative.

The cafe concert series is a bid by Symphony 92.4FM to provide a platform for classical musicians to perform in a casual setting in Singapore for the masses.

It also aims to increase awareness for the local classical music scene through social media as the mini concerts will be recorded and posted online.

Wang Ya-Hui, Vice-President of Symphony 92.4FM, MediaCorp Pte Ltd. said: “We want to use the platform of a strong local brand and social media platforms to showcase to the world the classical music talents that are available in Singapore.”

Award-winning violinists, Loh Junhong and Gabriel Ng will perform at the debut concert this Saturday.
