Star Radio Group releases first GfK research

Malaysia’s Star Radio Group’s (SRG) first radio audience measurement (RAM) with its new research company GfK indicates that close to 3.8 million listeners tune in to its four stations every week.

The survey was a part of GfK’s two waves per year using multi-mode technology for Red FM, SuriaFM, 988 and Capital FM.

According to the survey, the group had more affluent listeners, strong engagement levels at the stations’ intended market segment and high urban penetration.

SRG’s Malay station Suria FM has a reach of 2 million listeners per week with 89 percent urban penetration and its late evening show Suria Cinta has the longest time spent listening (TSL) among all the national Malay radio stations.

988 reaches 1.5 million listeners per week, has the highest penetration in the urban market and has the No.1 Chinese night show.

Red FM has quadrupled its number of listeners to 406,000 per week with a strong urban appeal and scores high with the affluent groups.

Capital FM, which targets urban English speaking female listeners, has 56,000 weekly listeners despite being present only in the Klang Valley and Penang,

It drive segment, The Jam Break has secured the highest time spent listening (TSL) for its time beltand late evening show Groovedown has the highest ratio of exclusive listeners.
