Taiwan, Korea, HK among AIBS nominees

Stations from Taiwan, Korea and Hong Kong made it to the final list of nominees at this year’s Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) awards.

The awards, held in London, honoured the best global radio, TV and online content across 18 categories.

Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) was nominated for the best ‘Investigative Documentary – Radio’ for ‘Who is there to protect Erwiana?’.

‘Water Wars’ from Radio New Zealand and ‘Human Traffiking’ from Middle East’s Radio Sawa were also nominated in the same category.

‘From Heungnam to Geoje: 60 Years Armistice Special’ from Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) and ‘An Anatomy of Medical Malpractice in Taiwan’ from Radio Taiwan International were nominated in the ‘Current Affairs Documentary’ category for radio.

Radio Taiwan International’s (RTI) ‘Lost in Dutch Formosa’ was recognised as a highly commended entry in the ‘Creative Feature’ category.

The awards were judged by an international panel of 50 judges from the broadcast industry.

AIB Awards judge Ruth Sloss, Director of Programming at Spafax, said: “The AIBs are not restricted to one language. Submissions are actively encouraged in all different languages from broadcasters across the globe.”
