BIG FM’s celebrates India’s unsung heroes

India’s 45-station network 92.7 BIG FM celebrated the country’s 66th Republic Day with the launch of an initiative to celebrate the lives and works of the unsung heroes of Indian society.

‘BIG Hawaizada Heroes’, which was kickstarted on January 26 on the breakfast shows of all the network’s stations, invited listeners to nominate citizens who deserve to be in the spotlight.

On the basis of SMS entries by listeners, the station will select eligible individuals and showcase their work before showcasing on air till January 30.

The ‘Hawaizada Heroes’ will be felicitated by Bollywood star Mithun Chakraborty and the lead cast of upcoming film Hawaizada on February 2.

The film features the story of scientist Shivkar Bapuji Talpade, who is credited to have constructed India’s first unmanned plane in 1895.

Commenting on the campaign, Ashwin Padmanabhan, National Business Head, 92.7 BIG FM stated: “Through our new initiative, we are celebrating the works of those citizens who have selflessly contributed to the society. We salute their spirit and hope that through our initiative, more and more people will be inspired and come forward to participate in noble deeds for our country.”
